Kim grew up in the Bay Area of California. She was a girl scout as a child and became a Brownie Leader as a young adult. Kim now has two children and four grandsons who keep her life very interesting. She loves baking and reading – something she never thought she would be good at as she struggled with this as a young student.

 

Before changing course to work in a school setting with children, Miss B. (as the students call her) worked for Lockheed Missiles and Space for nine years. Although she loved her co-workers, she felt something was missing. Kim found her calling when she answered an intriguing add for an “office worker who loves children”.

 

Her first job in an educational setting was at a preschool, daycare and Mothers Day Out program at a private school through a church in California. She found that she loved working with the students and their families. However, after nine wonderful years, she and her family decided to move to Portland so her oldest grandson could attend the Woodmont School for Dyslexics, which in 2005 transitioned into Park Academy. Kim started working at the school in the fall of 2001 as the Office Manager, before becoming the Registrar and then the Admissions Director, and has been here ever since! In the beginning, before the school started to grow, she not only worked in the office but also as an educational assistant.

 

Kim has now worked in a school setting for over twenty-one years. In her words, “It’s the best job imaginable (for me) and I wouldn’t trade it for anything”. Miss B’s background in working with students and families, along with her tenure at Park Academy, give her a special understanding of our students and their needs.
