Ignite. Empower. Imagine.

Christine Sills

Christine Sills grew up in Eugene, Oregon. After causing some football fan family division (raised in a family of ducks, turning on them to become a beaver) she moved to Corvallis where she attended Oregon State University. It wasn’t until after she had completed her bachelor’s in Environmental Science did she contemplate becoming a teacher. Post graduation she found a job doing educational presentations with a wide variety of reptiles and amphibians. It was through this work that she discovered her love of discussing science with others and the excitement of introducing students to science.

With this in mind, Christine went back to Oregon State to get her Master’s in Science Education. Not being able to narrow down her broad range of science interests further, she became endorsed to teach integrated science (life, physical, earth and space science) in grades 6-12. After graduating she spent her first year teaching in the Salem/Keizer area before moving up to the Seattle area. Two years of teaching later, Christine and her fiancé moved back to Oregon and got married in August 2015. Excited to be back in her home state Christine then heard about a science teacher opening at Park Academy.

Since being at Park Academy, Christine has been excited to get to know all the students and introduce them to many science topics that they previously may not have been exposed to.  The small classes and more intimate school atmosphere have been some of her favorite aspects of teaching here.

Currently, Christine is primarily teaching high school science. This year includes Biology for the freshman and sophomore classes and Chemistry for the junior and senior classes.

Outside of teaching, Christine has found passion in playing soccer, rock climbing, hiking, camping, and really any activity that can get her outside. A fan of both nature and animals, she also enjoys being outside doing photography.
