Ignite. Empower. Imagine.
Megan Holcomb grew up in San Diego, California. She moved to the Northwest to attend the University of Puget Sound in Washington, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Music. One summer between semesters, she decided to take an internship with a small educational organization in Portland, Oregon. She fell in love with Portland and teaching neurodiverse students.
In 2007, Megan moved to Portland and began working with an ABA therapist, delivering in-home intervention services for children on the Autism Spectrum. She found herself advocating for families and children at IEP meetings and decided to become a Special Education teacher to continue advocating for students in schools. In 2011, Megan graduated with a Master’s Degree in Special Education from the Inclusive Elementary Educator Program at Portland State University. She worked as a Learning Specialist for six years: first in Lincoln County School District and then in Tigard Tualatin School District.
Looking for a change of pace, Megan learned of Park Academy in 2017 and was excited by its unique mission. She is looking forward to her seventh year at Park Academy. She leads the reading team in instructional decisions, curriculum and assessment as well as coaching teachers in literacy practices across grades and subject areas.
When Megan is not at school, she loves to go hiking and camping, biking, gardening, finding great Portland eateries, and running in the rain.
