Laura Meeuwsen

3rd Grade Teacher and Reading Teacher

Laura Meeuwsen is an Oregon native with deep roots in the Portland area dating back to the 1850s. While she loves traveling to experience new places, her heart will always belong to the Pacific Northwest. Growing up in a family of educators and spending time in her parents’ classrooms inspired Laura’s early passion for working with children.

Since earning her elementary teaching certification from Oregon State University, Laura has devoted over 25 years to teaching students in both the private and public sectors. She is passionate about advocating for her students and helping a diverse community of learners achieve individual growth. Laura has completed two levels of training in the Orton-Gillingham Approach and is honored to support the students at Park Academy as a third-grade teacher and reading instructor. Outside of the classroom, Laura enjoys exploring the great outdoors, reading, puzzling, and playing games with her husband and four adult children.
