Ignite. Empower. Imagine.
Christie Lee has spent her entire adult life caring for and educating children. From the age of four, she wanted to be a teacher. However, her journey to arrive at this goal took a lot of twists and turns along the way. No matter what has come her way, Mrs. Lee has an infectious enthusiasm for life, a passion for being a student advocate, and a love of lifelong learning.
After graduating from Glencoe High School in Hillsboro, Mrs. Lee ran her own in-home childcare business for almost 15 years to be home for raising her two children, a daughter with ADHD, and a son with Autism. For three years during that period, she ran a Head Start pilot program funded through the Community Action Organization of Washington County. While working with CAO, she received her Associates degree in Early Childhood Education through their program.
Once her children were older, Mrs. Lee’s next educational journey began with working at Tigard High School, as a Learning Special Assistant in the Special Education Department with grades 9-12, and up to age 21. She was there for seven years. while attending courses at PCC and George Fox University where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, with a concentration in ESOL.
Mrs. Lee began teaching 4th and 5th graders in Hillsboro in her hometown where she was born. While completing her Master’s in Education, she worked as a substitute teacher and tutored students outside of the school hours. The focus of her research was the effects of bringing mindfulness into the classroom, and teaching it to students. She got her Reading Intervention Specialist endorsement, and worked for three years as the Reading Specialist at Clarkes Elementary. In June 2024, Christie completed her Orton-Gillingham training and started working with individual students as a tutor through the Park Center before joining Park Academy as a teacher.
In her spare time, she enjoys watching her favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs and most NFL games, playing with my Shih Tzu dog Griffin, nature walks, making quilts, reading and spending time with family especially at the beach. Her favorite color is red, and she is an avid coffee drinker.
