After beginning his career as an Occupational Therapist working in neurological rehabilitation and mental health settings, Cliff served a teacher before helping start an alternative program in the North Clackamas School District where he taught Health, PE and Science.
In 2007 Mr. Poage moved overseas where he taught and later became a school administrator at an independent international school in Shenzhen, China.
He moved into administrative roles in 2008, serving as ESL Coordinator, Student Support Services Coordinator, and Elementary Principal.
In 2013 Mr. Poage became the Head of School in Brindisi, Italy, and later returned to China in a similar position. He repatriated in 2018 to Bellingham, WA, where he has spent the past four years founding a public charter school.
When not at school, Mr. Poage loves to read, cook and travel. He is thrilled to return to Portland and explore the city’s restaurants and food carts, and is also looking forward to cheering on the Portland Timbers and Thorns with his son Owen.
