Jacob Sims

Custodian

Jacob Sims was born in Napa, CA. At age 11, he settled back into Napa in his grandparent’s home, with his mother and 3 brothers. With adventure outweighing further classroom education, he found himself in Santa Cruz, CA. After a couple years, he and two friends decided to move to Portland, OR. That move stuck. He has now been in Portland for half his life.

After making a promise to himself to move on from the front-of-the-house food service world, he entertained his roommates with some fun jobs like selling meat door to door and chimney sweeping, eventually getting hired as the Logistics Lead at a small micro machine shop. Over the span of almost 19 years, he worked his way up to Operations Manager. Coming to the realization that his career needed some new direction, he focused on working for himself, building fences and patios for the last couple years.

Jacob is really happy to join the team at Park Academy. Getting in just at the end of the 2025-26 school year, this will be his first year working with everyone. He is really looking forward to keeping a clean and functioning building for everyone and learning a thing or two along the way.

Outside of work, Jacob enjoys spending time with his two kids. He also enjoys woodworking projects, crafting, stand up comedy and working at SCRAP PDX a few times a month if he can.
