Jeff Barnes was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up in the small town of Madras. As a young boy, he loved to play sports. Mr. Barnes interest in helping students began his junior year in high school. He was a peer tutor at Madras Elementary and was also a fifth and sixth-grade boys basketball coach for Kiwanis. He continued to coach and tutor throughout his senior year, and his passion for helping kids grew more and more. He knew then that what he wanted to do in life was to help and teach children.
Mr. Barnes started his college career at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, Oregon. There he received an Associate of Arts Degree before transferring to the University of Oregon, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. Upon graduating, Mr. Barnes stayed in Eugene for a few years and worked at a local school. In 2012, Mr. Barnes attended Pacific University where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Special Education.
During his time in Eugene, Mr. Barnes developed a love for running, snowboarding, and surfing. He still enjoys doing these activities today, as well as cheering on his Oregon Ducks and the Portland Trail Blazers. Mr. Barnes also met the love of his life while living in Eugene. He and his wife, Callie, have a one year old chocolate labrador named Daisy and a three year-old daughter named Harper Grace.
