Sara Erickson

Teacher

Sara Erickson was born in Eugene Oregon.  She competed for the University of Oregon as a member of the track and field team. After wrapping up her athletic career, she decided on teaching as a career.  She had many teachers and coaches who supported her aspirations and she wanted to be able to help young people pursue their dreams.  Sara earned her Masters in Teaching at Pacific University. She has taught and coached at the secondary, middle, and elementary level. She fell in love with teaching reading when she was moved from a high school Health position to a first grade classroom.  Since that time, she has been on a mission to support struggling readers and writers develop their utmost potential. In the past two years, Sara has completed the ReadOregon program at Portland State University, the Orton Gillingham Associate Course, and the LETRS training program. She has tutored for the Park Center the past two summers and is excited to join the Park Academy Reading team.

Outside of teaching, Sara enjoys spending time with her family including her spouse Cory, daughter Ellie (9th grade), son Preston (6th grade), and dog Gus. As a family, they enjoy watching sports, camping, playing board games, and going on family vacations.
